Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are quickly emerging as one of the most popular orthodontic treatments to help straighten teeth and address bite problems due to their comfort, convenience, and discretion. They work identically to traditional braces, but instead of placing the brackets and archwire on the front of teeth, they’re secured to the backs. This makes the orthodontic appliance less noticeable, allowing adults and teens alike to maintain their individual sense of expression.
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces have long been the go-to solution to crowding, bite misalignment, and gaps between teeth. They utilize metal brackets that are connected via a thin archwire that places a strategic, gentle amount of pressure on the teeth to shift them into their ideal position. These can also be paired with elastics to help adjust the bite as well, correcting overbite, underbite, and crossbite.
Clear Braces
For our patients who are more image-conscious, Dr. Khorashadi also offers clear braces that consist of transparent brackets and archwires that blend in with the smile. These use the same straightening method as traditional braces to achieve similar results, but are less visible to onlookers.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
Invisalign clear aligners are able to address a wide range of orthodontic issues, including crowding, misalignment, and malocclusion, all without the use of metal brackets or wires. Instead, you will have a series of clear, smooth trays that are designed to gently shift the teeth into alignment without highlighting that you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment. Because they’re removable, brushing and flossing, as well as eating, is much easier. Simply take the trays out beforehand and enjoy all of the favorite snacks you normally would.

Tips for Orthodontic Success
- Watch your diet: If you have Invisalign trays, you can eat everything that you normally eat. The Invisalign aligners are simply removed before eating. With conventional braces, you should not eat any hard, crunchy, or extremely sticky foods, as the braces can dislodge.
- Practice good dental hygiene: With Invisalign orthodontics, you can brush and floss normally when you remove the aligners. With conventional braces, you can brush normally and use either a Platypus flossing aid or a water flosser.
- Watch out for slight discomfort: Minor discomfort is normal and to be expected in the first few days of orthodontic treatment. Covering the newly placed conventional braces with wax is very comforting to the cheeks, which rub against the braces. With Invisalign, the cheeks are not affected. With both types of orthodontics, the teeth themselves will be slightly sore initially, but this will resolve in the first few weeks. Advil works great for this.
- Be patient: It takes time for your teeth to move!
